New Maruti Suzuki Dzire achieves 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, Gadkari congratulates

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Dzire has made history as India’s first sedan to snag a 5-star Bharat NCAP safety rating, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is all cheers for it! Launched in 2023, Bharat NCAP is India’s own crash-test program, designed to boost vehicle safety standards for cars up to 3.5 tonnes. Gadkari, who kicked off this initiative, took to X to congratulate Maruti Suzuki, calling the achievement a “proud milestone for Made-in-India cars.” He’s thrilled to see mainstream models like the Dzire raising the bar with advanced safety features, including six airbags as standard across its lineup.

Maruti’s not stopping there—by the end of 2025, they plan to equip all their passenger vehicles with six airbags and Electronic Stability Program+ (ESP®) as standard. The Dzire, built on Suzuki’s fifth-generation HEARTECT platform, also boasts features like ABS with EBD, 360-degree cameras, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. Oh, and the New Age Baleno grabbed a solid 4-star rating in the same Bharat NCAP tests, so Maruti’s clearly on a safety roll

Gadkari handed over the certificate to Maruti Suzuki’s MD & CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi, who’s stoked about the recognition. He emphasized how Bharat NCAP helps buyers make informed choices and reaffirmed Maruti’s commitment to safety-first vehicles. Gadkari also urged other automakers to follow suit and make six airbags standard, while reminding everyone—drivers, passengers, and pedestrians—to buckle up and follow traffic rules for safer roads.

This isn’t just a win for Maruti; it’s a big step toward safer Indian roads. The Dzire’s also scored a 5-star Global NCAP rating, proving it’s not just a local hero but a global contender, with features like pedestrian protection and a stable structure in crash tests. So, if you’re eyeing a compact sedan that’s stylish, feature-packed, and now super safe, the Dzire’s got you covered.
