VF7 and VF6: Premium SUVs to Lead the Charge
VinFast is launching with two stylish electric SUVs, the VF7 and VF6, both tailored for India’s right-hand-drive market and packed with premium features. The VF7, a midsize SUV priced between Rs. 22-30 lakh, sports a sleek design by Torino Design and is powered by a 75.3 kWh battery. It offers a range of up to 450 km (WLTP) for the Eco trim and 431 km for the Plus, with power outputs of 201 bhp (Eco) and an impressive 349 bhp (Plus).
Loaded with a 15-inch touchscreen (Plus trim), an advanced ADAS suite, a panoramic sunroof, and a modern D-cut steering wheel, the VF7 is ready to take on competitors like the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, and MG ZS EV.
The VF6, a compact SUV priced at Rs. 30-45 lakh, targets the popular sub-compact segment, going head-to-head with the Maruti Brezza and Mahindra XUV400. While detailed specs are still forthcoming, it promises a practical range, family-friendly features, and a tech-savvy interior to appeal to urban buyers. Both models will be assembled as CKD units at VinFast’s state-of-the-art Thoothukudi plant, which starts with a 50,000-unit annual capacity but is designed to scale up to 150,000. This heavy localization strategy ensures competitive pricing while leveraging India’s robust manufacturing ecosystem.

VF3: A Quirky, Affordable Game-Changer
Looking ahead to 2026, VinFast plans to launch the VF3, a funky two-door micro-SUV priced around Rs. 10 lakh. With a compact 3190 mm length, a 18.64 kWh battery, and a 210 km range (NEDC), it’s built for city commuters and will rival the MG Comet and Tata Tiago EV. The VF3’s rugged yet playful design, 10-inch touchscreen, and safety features like airbags, ABS, and a high ground clearance of 191 mm make it a practical and stylish choice for young buyers. VinFast’s innovative battery subscription model, paired with a 10-year battery warranty, could significantly lower upfront costs, making EVs more accessible to India’s price-sensitive consumers.
Tamil Nadu Plant: Powering Jobs and Exports
VinFast’s Thoothukudi facility, set to open by June 2025—six months ahead of schedule—is the backbone of its India strategy. With an initial $500 million investment, part of a $2 billion long-term commitment, the plant is 90% complete and will create 3,000–3,500 jobs while boosting local businesses. Strategically located near a port, it’s poised to become an export hub for West Asia and Africa, alongside serving India’s growing EV demand. The facility will also house battery production and support a nationwide charging network through V-Green, VinFast’s infrastructure arm. CEO Pham Sanh Chau highlighted its role in driving sustainable mobility and positioning Tamil Nadu as India’s fourth major auto hub.
Can VinFast Conquer India’s EV Market?
India’s EV landscape is fiercely competitive, with Tata Motors, MG, and BYD already commanding strong footholds. VinFast’s aggressive pricing, localized production, and premium features give it a solid shot, but flawless execution in quality and after-sales service will be crucial. Opening bookings in June 2025 signals confidence, and the 150,000-unit production target reflects bold ambition. Social media posts on X are electric with excitement, with fans calling VinFast’s move a “game-changer” for India’s EV scene. With a growing dealership network across metro and Tier 2/3 cities, plus government support for EV adoption, VinFast is ready to light up India’s roads this festive season.
